Here is a perfect example of why craigslist cheap skates don’t get what they pay for…..
Now this is TYPICAL of taking the cheapest bid, they are undercutting everyone for this very reason. YOUR NOT GOING TO GET what you paid for, or if you get something its going to be flawed!!
So essentially what happened to this guy is he gets the best (cheapest) deal available, from some guy overseas and now is stumped because he is ass deep into this project with no more cash and a half backed website to try and salvage.
Found this on Yahoo answers
“I have had a e Commerce / Internet Retail website built from scratch for me from a friend who is a Web Designer / Programmer.
What he created was something he built from scratch, but I had trouble working with him because of a language barrier. He did
not speak good English, it was hard for him to understand me and vice versa.
I had another friend of mine who was more experienced make a few changes but being that it was built from scratch from somebody
else and not a site that was bought “ready-to-use” he had some trouble making the changes but was successful with most. The site
is about 90% complete, there are a few little additions and changes that I would like to have made before I open the site for business,
right now its still under construction and has been for almost a year.
What I need is some changes to be made with the Shipping Options and Email options, might be one or two other things but as of
right now the most important is Shipping Option. In the Back-end of the website I can’t seem to add additional shipping options
for the customer to choose, so right now it has one option which is “Standard” but I want to add other options like “1st Day”
“2nd Day” , “Expedited”, etc. Something in that nature. Also, I would like to add an additional $0.35 per pound on certain shipping
options depending on the amount of the order and the weight of the products that the customer bought.
I wish I could do this myself, and trust me I have decided to take up classes and or courses on Web Design / Programming so I can
eventually edit or upgrade my own website when needed. But right now I need some help, I would like to have this done soon, I am
not expecting someone to quit there day job or working all hours of the night to help me out. If you get the job all I ask is that its
done at a reasonable time, i know that things come up and things happen so I am not expecting this to be done in an hour or so.
I do plan on making more changes to the website in the near future so if things work out I will definitely have you help me
out with that as well.”
Yet another of the many and growing number of ads asking for cheap website design, cheap customers expecting to get a Lamborghini for the price of a Yugo. Doesn’t anyone remember the old adage “you get what you pay for”.
The worst case scenario is the customer who thinks they know enough to be dangerous, if that was the case they could do it themselves, but because they think they know enough they know it’s simple?

I’m an interior designer who’s starting my own company and am looking for someone to help me get my website up and running, along with creating business cards and a brochure for my business. I have the write up, images, and logo, but just need someone with technical know how to implement this. I purchased a template for the business cards and brochure (template can be manipulated using InDesign or Illustrator EPS), so essentially it’s a matter of plugging in my material into the template.
This is ideal for a student or someone looking to gain some experience, as I’m looking to do this on the cheap. Please forward a couple of samples of your work and your rates.
The problem here is she is already setting her new venture up to fail, the least you should do on a new startup is invest at least a reasonable amount of your capitol on your store front!
The theory that launched a novels and movies as well a plagiarism battle in the courts (with the authors of the Holy Blood and holy grail). Popular theories are that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and had several children who were then married into the Merovingian dynasty, whose special claim to the throne of France is championed today by a secret society called the Priory of Sion.
Yet another reason not to do work on speck!!! |

“EJ the DJ” – “Diva DJs”
He likes to communicate via emails but is sharp enough to not have the threats in it or to commit to anything specifically other than to lead you to finishing the site because his “boss” asked him to do this. This is the sequence of emails from John with “Music to your Ears” Friday, January 02, 2009 4:22 PM – Ok well we would need the front page complete, 1st in order to go further with anything… Once the front page is complete, we can then know you will not due what our previous designer did to us which was create a J Peg photo not a web page.
Friday, January 02, 2009 7:21 PM -Steve here is our photo data base you can pick any photo you think will fit. http://mtyedjs.myphotoalbum.com/albums.php Friday, January 02, 2009 9:56 PM – looks cool but looks to be a photo still. Friday, January 02, 2009 10:37 PM – ok, i will be up for another 2 hrs so i will keep checking, thank you steve so far so good. Are we able to make the flash image video by the logo? Friday, January 02, 2009 11:21 PM – Ok were just looking for the home page right now once that is complete I will get my boss to get you the payment I like it so far, were you able to view our other site to view the content? Friday, January 02, 2009 11:47 PM – I did take the mouse and try to click but nothing works and it seems to be not centered or something Saturday, January 03, 2009 12:11 AM – Ok understood right now I just need the 1st page done then i can show that to my boss and he should approve then I can get you a payment out 1st thing Sunday morning when he comes back, and you can do the whole site. Saturday, January 03, 2009 12:32 AM – Very cool what about the graffics in the boxes as the photo below.. Sunday came and went so I emailed him asking for an update.
I replied to him that I removed the website since he hadn’t emailed me or called. Monday, January 05, 2009 1:19 PM – Ok we weren’t able to view the updates because we didn’t save the link. I also emailed him about the suggestions I had made about key words and Meta tags corrections to which he was fast to add. Monday, January 05, 2009 1:41 PM – No i haven’t changed anything we have an SEO company that works on all my following sites. www.ejthedjs.com www.longislanddjs.info www.mtyedjs.com I replied with I don’t expect you to setup a gig without a contract or deposit….. But you want me to develop a site until you figure out what to do…. You have seen I can do it and have pretty much done it all. I need to move on to paying gigs, when and if you’re ready to do this let me know. Steve And haven’t heard from him since, I had already done a search on him and found a website with negative comments regarding the company and in particular John among many other aliases he uses, from someone who apparently sold him some equipment and was stiffed by John at “Music for your Ears”. So to any website developers I encourage you to get paid upfront with this guy and be careful of a chargeback!! |

This opinion coming from me a stanch advocate for the cheap domain registrar GoDaddy,
as is widely reported on assorted industry news feeds, what essentially was happening is after you let a domain lapse Bob would then pull those domain names into a company (subsidiary or sister company of Godaddy) called Standard Tactics LLC and hide the registration information, and either put them up for auction or hold them for the google ad revenues as parked domains.
The conflict as I see it is that they are in a very advantageous position to know inside information about when its going to expire, and have absolute first dibs at scoring the domain name and either reselling it at auction or just holding it for the revenue stream it will bring in based on the parked /adsense value it can pull in based on traffic to the site.
I would say that’s a little more like insider trading. But what do I know.
I think there should be a fair system for releasing domain names back into the public for resale other than to keep them unavailable for resell until the registrar has milked the name for all its worth prior to releasing it to the public, or to hold it hostage for the original owner to redeem it for a reasonable fee. $75+ I think is not a reasonable fee for a $10 domain name, unless of course you think 700% profit / penalty is a reasonable fee?
I routinely read things off ATS, and saw a post on there I just had to steal the graphic on the bailout….. Scary at best.
